I hope to maybe make a longer post soon. but I thought I'd give a quick shout out and say hey... also while I haven't posted on Instagram in a little while I seem to be making more posts there so you can check that out it you are interested

It has been ages since the last time I posted, as usual I never can seem to keep up. I'm also having a little trouble with the newest version of the Weebly app. I think I'm starting to work through it mostly but some days I just want to throw my device across the room.
While I haven't been very good at keeping up with posts, lately it quite possibly could get worse in the future. The internet here is going to go down for an indefinite period of time soon. So that means I guess I will be back to Wi-Fi spots, I have been creating things with fiber but I haven't had a lot of time so it's not as much as I'd like. Surprise, surprise, in fact though it has been so long since I have last written I think I will just mention that I am spending up some alpaca that I've picked and carded on my relatively new electric spinner. As well as spending far too much time thinking and planning for the Southern Illinois Spinners and Weavers Fiber and Arts Fair So a couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to go to a fiber festival in Murphysboro Tennessee also known as Fiber in the Boro. I went more for inspiration than shopping I really don't need anything. Not that that has ever stopped me before!☺ but surprisingly I did pretty well and I only brought home a few things. I met there with a couple of my friends who decided to go to the festival as well, I have to admit it's a lot more fun going with several other people then with by yourself or just with Mom who is my normal fiber festival companion ( I'm really not saying that I don't enjoy having her come because in fact I really do,) but it is just good to get other people's perspective as well. I got very few pictures because like usual for some reason I forgot to take them, but I will see if I can dig any up. So I picked up this awesome fiber at the show it is a pound of a blend of romney wool and mohair, now I'm not as fond of mohair but I couldn't resist the colors. Also to our surprise both mom and I won a door prize, she won a book on saroi garment construction but she turned around and gave to me because I'm the Weaver and I won wait for a set of Us size 100s circular needles. I have to say I thought 100s is there any way I could ever use these? However they they are rather cool, so we will see if anything comes of it. Now this is the only picture I took the day of the show the only reason I took it was I thought it was such a cool idea for inspiration.
So on that note I think I'll wrap it up and tell you... happy spinning til later Just in case you're in Cadiz KY you can check out the new projects for sale at The Cadiz Comfort Zone. PS I am still trying to figure out how the new version of the weekly app works, so if this post looks odd that is why.
Wow 66 screen printed shirts, for this upcoming festival. Note to self don't print so many shirts at one time. This project has been fraught with difficulties, first I ordered the wrong ink and I had to reorder more. Then after I got the right ink since I was so behind I ended up starting printing after I got home from work on just about all the shirts... I had which ended up to be 66 . Now it was getting late when I started printing them, and it was even later , when I stopped heat setting for the night as I was so tired. So I had to wait till the next day to finish the rest , oh well all's well that ends well. Another thing that I have been working on is a 100% Lama fibre hat. I hope to either finish it tonight, or in the next couple of days. see photo below Well on that note I think I'll wrap it up for the night. I hope all you fiber hounds are having a good time and until later happy spinning !!!
So if you read my last post you noticed I said something about a festival. The festival I'm talking about as our local county festival - the ham festival.
I plan to be setting up in the local art galleries booth am I the one where I normally sell my product at. Yes you guessed it, I will be demoing spinning to help draw attention to the art gallery. Just in case you were wondering about the photo it's a little something I've been working on this evening. I am very low on my drop spindle kits in the shop so I needed to whip up a few more. Anyway it's getting a bit late so I will talk to you on the flip side. Happy fibering all! Hey there everyone, it's me attempting to blog again we'll see how long it lasts this time.
If you have read the title to this blog post you noticed that I have been working on a few things and I have a photo to prove it. I have a show coming up in a couple of weeks, so I have been working like crazy in my spare time to get ready for it... Also I have been competing in a challenge at my group in Fort Massac the Southern Illinois Spinners and Weavers as well, I have totally completed my goal... and am attempting to double it as well . And so since I have a few more things to finish up I am going to go and work on them and I will try and get back to you later... Hopefully a bit sooner than last time :-) Until later Happy spinning!!! It always amazes me, some how I think I am going to find time to blog... and I never seem to. My life is just too full of ups and downs, I make a few tries for while then I apologize to my practically non-existent readers for not finding the time. So what have I been doing? ... working a lot, trying to find a little time for fibery things... and failing at that too. I have been to a couple of fiber fairs and the monthly meetings at Fort Massac... so that means I am still getting a few things but they are starting to pile up with not a lot of tome to do anything with them.
As I read back what I wrote it sounds like I have not made anything, but that is not true ether I have made a few things... I made some 100% handspun cloth on my floor loom ( the first time it was all handspun warp and weft) and I have been doing some spinning (some), I also have been playing with some screen printing and silk dyeing to name a few things that come to mind. Another distraction that has come my way is discovering e-books, I find that while there is something about physical books that is not there with e-books in many ways I am liking them more...sometimes. If you noticed the new Instagram button you might have figured out that I have a new phone and have been playing around with it. As much as I really like weebly hosting my site they have changed the mobile app to access the site and I find the there is not enough time when I am at a WiFi hot-spot to use it so that is the reason I have not been posting lately as well. Oh well... if there is anyone reading this you will have to forgive my jumbled thoughts tonight. Kevin aka The Fiber Dude |
